Crafting is an activity that is best done in groups.
That’s not to say you can’t do it alone, but a big part of what makes crafts so enjoyable is the fact that you can chat to your friends while you work. It keeps your hands occupied while you chat, and you come away with little creations to mark your time together.
Eat. Drink. Make. is the mantra they adopt at Crafternoon Cafe in Carlton North and Brunswick. They provide a comfortable, relaxing space to eat, drink, and let your creativity run wild.
“We opened our doors with a vision to give people of all ages a space to be creative without the pressure of being in an art class or feeling as though they had to present what they made,” they said.
“We have a delicious all-day brunch, lunch and kids menu, with beautiful STRADA coffee and Teacraft teas to keep the creativity flowing. It's been so fantastic to see this come to fruition, with babies, toddlers, teens, and grandparents all getting their hands dirty in our collage and construction corner, with a paintbrush in hand and the occasional finger painting session.”
Customers of all ages are welcome in their this craft sanctuary, and you can experiment with all sorts of creative mediums without worrying about buying materials or cleaning up afterwards. Whether you enjoy painting, moulding playdough, or pasting and construction, you’ll be able to go craft to your heart’s content, from just $10 per person.
“Seeing people express themselves through art is so much fun to watch, and that fact that we get to provide the materials for them to do so is really special. We also just have a lot of fun with it, it's not too serious because art doesn't have to always be that way.
“Dance artist Twyla Tharp once said: 'Creativity is a habit, and the best creativity is the result of good work habits.' Good work habits for us? Practice creativity daily!”
Crafternoon also opens up its premises to functions and parties, for people who are looking for something quirky and fun on special occasions. You can book a high tea and crafts session for $25 per person, or hold your next birthday party at one of their venues, fully catered with a selection of homemade treats and goodies.
“We have held workshop style stalls at local street parties and markets as well as having countless mother's groups, craft groups, baby showers, hens parties & kids parties all under our roof. We love craft, and we love it when people of all ages get involved!”
Crafternoon is the perfect place to have a child’s birthday party, a hen’s night, or even a team-building exercise. There is absolutely no pressure to create a masterpiece, you just need to have fun!
