Returning in Autumn 2018
Time: Monthly, Saturday 10am
Duration: 3 hours
Location: West End
If you're looking for a new hobby and are in a creative mood, crochet is just the thing for you. Learn how to wield a hook and create something special in this Classie course for absolute beginners.
This course is designed for those who have had little to no experience with a crochet hook. You will learn basic stitches, such as double and treble crochets, chain stitches, slip stitches, and their abbreviations; and how to crochet in the round. This class will also cover the use of eco-friendly recycled T-shirt yarn, and its many benefits. By the end of the class, you will have all the skills you need to make a soft bowl.
Class sizes are kept small so each participant will have a chance to interact with the host on a one-to-one basis. Participants will be provided with all the equipment on the day, including a hook, sample patterns, and a ball of yarn.
A free beverage is also included as part of the course price. Bookings are essential.

As there was only two of us it was great as the teacher was able to sit between us and give us step by step instructions. The only downside was the location as it was very noisy and sometimes hard to hear what the teacher was saying as there was a drumming group playing drums at the same time as our class. 4/5 by Lynne Cavanagh 10-9-2017
Yolanda is an awesome teacher. Her enthusiasm is so infections! Feel much more confident now. Thank you x 5/5 by Nicky Sainsbury 9-9-2017
Great venue! I attended the Beginner class at the venue in West End and did not like that it at all as the lighting wasn't great and patrons consistently walked through our class to get to the balcony so it was a little disruptive. About a Boy and Girl in Newstead is a lovely venue. Great for breakfast first up and then the room they set aside for the class was airy and bright. Yolanda was lovely and good teacher. I've already done the Granny Square class so it would be awesome if you had other crochet classes as well. 5/5 by Nadine Tumataroa 13-8-2017

This class was really fun. I had no experience and I'm left handed. Yolanda was very patient and was able to easily adapt her crochet techniques so that I could learn the left handed way. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who is keen to learn! 5/5 by Hannah Grant 13-8-2017
This was a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. I have had a little experience with crochet before, so practising and talking out my ideas was very beneficial. 5/5 by April 15-7-2017

I enjoyed the event very much. The project was the right level for me and the venue was a good choice.
A more general comment about the Classie Classes: - I have really enjoyed the two crochet ones I have done. The classes have been run professionally by friendly patient tutors. Thanks to Debbie and Helen. I tried learning how to crochet with videos on youtube but was unsuccessful, so the classes have been very helpful. 4/5 by Bernadette Ling 8-5-2016
